Max & Danielle At Knowsley Hall

Back in February, Max tied the knot with his partner, Danielle and we were so thrilled to be a part of their big day! Read on to find out what Max wore and his tips for future grooms.

In 2017, Max and Danielle approached us to create a special stand-out look for their wedding day at Knowsley Hall. Max already knew that he wanted to wear a dinner suit, however, after trying a number of off-the-peg styles from various high street stores, he was left disappointed at their lack of the “wow” factor. As a former Scotland rugby player, he also found that these suits were ill-fitting around his broad shoulders and muscular quads.

“When I visited Whitfield & Ward, I instantly knew that this was where I was going to get my suit; they suggested options to me that I never would have thought of and Keith’s knowledge of design and fit totally put me at ease.”

So, what did Max wear?

Designed to his requirements, Max wore a stunning three-piece dinner suit that was tailored to perfection! For a modern take on traditional black tie, he went for a midnight-blue jacket with a black satin peak lapel, satin covered buttons and matching trousers featuring a classic, black stripe. To compliment, Max chose a horseshoe style waistcoat in black satin, which he wore over a studded Marcella shirt that we tailored to give him a perfect fit.

For the finishing touches, Max wore a patent, pointed-toe shoe and accessorized with a gold pocket watch given to him by his father when he was born, so it had great sentimental value and added a special touch that was both personal and stylish.

The overall look was the epitome of sartorial elegance and provided Max with a wedding suit that was unique and beautifully fitted – something that is best achieved by having it made-to-measure.

When asked about his experience with Whitfield & Ward, Max had the following to say:

“The experience from start to finish was better than I ever thought it would be. The team were fantastic and made it an easy and enjoyable experience throughout”

“They even helped to secretly organise a surprise for myself and Danielle. They had a gold heart stitched onto the sleeve of my shirt, so I was essentially wearing her heart on my sleeve for the entire day.”

Max’s tips for fellow grooms looking for a wedding suit:

Research is key! Max recommends having an idea of what you want before visiting any shops by using Pinterest or Instagram for inspiration. He comments that it made the process a whole lot easier when designing his suit. He also suggests picking a style that will compliment your venue and find a tailor that knows how to make the best out of your shape.
