Morning Suit Style – Ascot Royal Enclosure

If you’re planning on attending Ascot’s royal enclosure this summer read on for our morning suit style tips. This blog takes you through everything you need to know – from traditional to tails with a contemporary twist!

The royal enclosure, attended by the Royal family and prestigious society members, has a fairly strict dress code. Get it wrong and you can be refused entry so read on for our advice on how to get your morning suit just right!

The Royal Enclosure – Dress Code

The Royal Enclosure is reserved for members and their guests and has the strictest dress code of all the enclosures. For this area, you’ll need to wear a morning suit in either black or grey with a waistcoat, tie, top hat and black leather shoes. Cravats are not permitted, nor is the customisation of top hats, which should either be black or grey and can only be removed within certain areas. To find out the more about the Ascot dress code, read our blog on how to dress for Ascot

Traditional Morning Suit Styles

A traditional black morning jacket, grey and black stripe trousers with grey waistcoat is probably the most popular choice. Country-themed ties with pheasants, horses and stags in rich, jewel tones will add a little edge to this look.

Another popular choice is to go for matching grey jacket, trousers and waistcoat.  These traditional morning suit styles are often worn with an elegant double-breasted waistcoat.

Morning Suits With A Contemporary Twist!

If you’d like to be a little more adventurous, you can add some pattern and colour to either your tie or waistcoat, we’d suggest one of the other, not both!

A tie in a rich bold paisleys or spotted silk teamed with a simple dove grey waist coat will make you stand out for all the right reasons.

A glen check or windowpane waistcoat, in subtle blues and grey’s, is another great way to add sophistication to your Ascot royal enclosure look.
