Tom and Sophie married at the end of last summer at the historic venue Arley Hall,Cheshire. Tom wore a stylish burgundy suit on his big day, read on to discover how we helped Tom bring his wedding suit vision to reality!
Tom’s photographer, Mark Williamson, who has produced our images for many years, recommended us to Tom and Sophie. When Tom first came to see us he originally had a brown suit in mind however after his first consultation with us he began to think about things and changed his mind.
Tom said;
“I always wanted to have a tailored suit and this was perhaps a once in a lifetime opportunity. So I decided to forget about a brown tweed wedding suit. I thought it was too flat and, if I was going to go for bespoke then I wanted to go bespoke and standout!”
Tom started to look for a colour with a little more substance which both complimented his venue and offered more warmth. He had always loved rich burgundy hues and so decided to go for that.
Once Tom had decided on the colour he made sure that he planned all his design appointments. One of his friends had a tailored suit made with us and advised him to make sure he thought about what he wanted before he started the design.
Tom Said;
“Doing a bit of research and planning your ideas is so important. Having Sophie with me on my appointments really helped too. We designed it together and the process was so easy and flowed organically.”
Tom’s striking, bespoke tailored burgundy suit, jacket and trousers were all made from a Donegal fabric. The Donegal fabric has a fantastic depth of colour with reds, plums and claret in the weave. Tom introduced his original colour choice, brown into his waistcoat with a contrasting brown and burgundy windowpane fabric.
For the lining he went fully ‘bespoke’ with a vibrant scuba diving print to remind him of one of their favourite holidays. Tom also chose a vibrant red under-collar melton (a cloth traditionally used to line the underside of a jacket) embroidered with ‘HURST’ and had his wedding date embroidered into his jacket lining.
The navy bow tie and pocket square Tom chose complemented his burgundy suit and added yet another layer of impact to his wedding look.
Tom said:
“I love the fabric we picked, the texture is so much more interesting than a plain, flat fabric.”
For his groomsmen Tom used our wedding suit hire services. The groomsmen complemented Tom’s burgundy suit with our slim fit navy Highgrove lounge suit. This was teamed with our exclusive brown checked waistcoat and burgundy bow ties and pocket squares.
Tom’s advice is:
“Don’t be afraid of going for bolder colours and being a little brave!”
And we absolutely agree! Bolder colours, like burgundy are the perfect foil for browns and more earthy tones so popular with rustic weddings.
